How To Find A Bulldog Breeder

by Bobby Callahan

Bulldogs are truly fabulous dogs. Besides their incredibly unique appearance which is unmatched by any other breed in the world, they also have a wonderful personality. Bulldogs are loyal, affectionate, good tempered and even good around children. They are easy to train and extremely devoted to their owners. Getting a Bulldog as a pet may be one of the easiest decisions you will ever make, but the process of actually finding one may not be.

You will need to find a legitimate and responsible Bulldog breeder, one that really cares for their dogs and wants to ensure that they are all healthy and that they will all be going to the best of homes. The process of finding a good Bulldog breeder can often be lengthy and quite trying, especially because the Bulldog is such a popular breed. You want to avoid dealing with mass breeders because these are breeders who breed as often as they can in order to make as much money as they can. They care very little about the dogs and could care less whether they make it to a good home.

There are a few steps that you will need to take in order to ensure that you find the right Bulldog breeder. The first thing you should do is contact the breed registry, in this case the Bulldog registry. This is a registry that maintains studbooks and one that is made up of many member clubs, one for each breed. They will be able to offer you some incredibly valuable advice on the breed and on where you can go to find legit and reputable breeders.

You should also ask how many breeds they focus on, and keep in mind that the fewer breeds they work with the better, because they will then be more focused on the particular breed. You also want to inquire about what health tests have been done on both parents of the litter, and any breed should have hips, eyes and ideally thyroid tests completed.

This is important because you want to ensure that you are getting the healthiest dogs possible. The bottom line is that as long as you ask a Bulldog breeder the right questions you will be able to determine whether or not they are worth dealing with and whether you should agree to buy a puppy from them.

Also keep in mind that no matter how many questions you may have, a good breeder will never get angry or cross with you or make you feel as though you are overstepping your bounds.

This is because a good breeder cares about their dogs and is going to want to ensure that they are going to the right home. In fact, you should be prepared for a breeder to have just as many questions to ask as you, if they are worth considering at least.

They may inquire about where you live, how large your home is and whether there are any children or other animals presently living there.
